Here is Episode 2 of my series of art journaling videos for Art Geeks.  I’m giving away another handmade art journal to one lucky participant of my challenge, so if you haven’t joined yet, what’s holding you back?  You have until February 14, 2013.

In this video, I create this art journal spread, using only five products/techniques:

Zentangles again

I decided to participate in a Zentangle challenge, over at TanglePatterns.com – for the first time EVER!  ;)   lol  However, I should have READ the challenge more carefully, because I didn’t do it correctly.  The challenge was to tangle your name.  So, that’s what I did!  I have such an easy name – only 3 letters, so I thought it would be fun to do a “real” zentangle, in the “official” zentangle size.  So, I couldn’t stop at just one.  I couldn’t decide to tangle the letters, or tangle the negative space, so I did one of each!  lol.  I just realized I forgot to shade them, too.  I always do that last, but I did these in bed, late last night, and didn’t have a pencil handy.  I do like how they turned out, even though they don’t meet the challenge requirements, which is to take the letters of your name, and select a tangle beginning with each letter of your name.  So, in my case, I would divide my tile into 3 sections, and tangle each section with a tangle beginning with K, I, and M.

So, what do you think?  Which one do you like better?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Maybe I’ll try to do the challenge correctly next time lol.

Challenge Friday at The Townscrapper!

TGIF!  Today is going to be a super-quick post, because it is a beautiful, sunny day here in Southwestern Ontario, and I can’t wait to get outside to enjoy it!

It’s Challenge Friday over at The Townscrapper blog today!  I challenged the DT to use my newest sketch this week, and you have GOT to see the inspirational cards they all came up with today!  WOWEEEEEE!

So, without further ado, here’s the sketch:

May 30 2010 sketch mine

And, here’s my card:

“Magical Sophie by Victoria Case”

I used paper from Basic Grey’s new “Wags and Whiskers” line.  The base is double-sided paper by October Afternoon (available at The Townscrapper).  I colored Magical Sophie with my Copics, and cut her and her little puppy out.  I then used one of my fave nestability die and cut through all layers of the card front, and put Sophie and puppy in the window.  Phebe, at The Townscrapper - currently has a fab sale on Nestability dies…BOGO!  That means….buy one, get one FREE!  Contact Phebe by email or by phone (info@townscrapper.com or call 519-882-0623) to order yours today.  While you’re at it, you may as well get yourself a couple of stamps, too, eh?  :)   You’re welcome.  I am the BEST enabler on the planet!  ;)

Thank you so much for stopping by!  If you want to try your hand at my sketch, here – you could win a Kraftin’ Kimmie stamp this week!  Check it out…This is “Lillith”:

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

Showcase Monday at The Townscrapper

It’s Monnnnnnndddddddddaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!  You know what that means?  The Scrapettes get to play with all the latest and greatest stamps from the Townscrapper!  I even decided to play along this week!  I had this adorable Greeting Farm Dressy Anya image all colored up, (used my Copics, of course) – so all I had to do was add some pretty papers and embellies, and voila!  Everything was from my stash, and all from the Townscrapper!

So, if you want some more eye candy, click on over to The Townscrapper blog to see what the rest of the DT created today!  AND, you still have time to play along with this week’s challenge for a chance to win some rubbah!  :)   Check it out here.

That’s all for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Sketch Challenge at The Townscrapper!

TGIF!  I can’t believe it’s Friday already.  Some weeks just fly by, don’t they?  It’s usually when I have a gazillion things to do, when the weeks seem way too short!  But, at least I feel like I’m getting back to making cards and blogging again!  I’ve missed blogworld.  I had kind of an epiphany today.  The reason why I haven’t been making many cards is because I have been trying some other creative outlets.  I’ve been learning to draw, and paint with acrylics and watercolors.  But, today, I realized that I can combine the two!  For the past year or so, I’ve been using my Copics to color all of my stamped images.  I still LOVE my Copics, but I’ve been having fun with my Neocolor II Watercolor crayons, and I thought, hey…I could use them to color my stamped images!  So, I took a little drive to Petrolia, and visited with Phebe at The Townscrapper, and picked me up some new Rubbah!  Isn’t this image adorable?  It’s by Victoria Case, available exclusively at The Townscrapper.  And, it comes with this sentiment, “Call Me”!  too!  I love it!  What a great way to tell someone on an adorable card, that you miss them and would love to chat some time!  I know exactly who I am going to send this card to.

This week’s challenge over at the Townscrapper blog, is a sketch challenge!  This sketch was brought to us by the very lovely and talented Nikki Fairbairn, who is joining the DT this week to celebrate our May theme – our Mother-Daughter challenge month!  I absolutely LOVE this sketch!

Here’s my take:

So, I stamped sweet Lola, using Stazon permanent ink on 140lb watercolor paper, and colored her with my Neocolor II Watercolor crayons, activated with my Stampin’ Up and Tombow watercolor markers.  The patterned papers are Basic Grey, and October Afternoon, available at The Townscrapper.  The base of the card is Bazzill Swiss dots, which is my current fave cardstock.  The embellishments were all from my stash, and old as the hills!  I haven’t used eyelets in so long!  I thought it was about time I dusted off some of my older supplies.

So, that’s all for today.  Stay tuned for a tutorial on this coloring method.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use this medium for coloring stamped images, although I am sure someone has.  I like to think I’m the first, but I highly doubt it!  LOL  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Please leave me a comment….it makes me smile.

Mother-Daughter Spotlight at The Townscrapper!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Have a fab day, everyone!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms out there!  I have been such a bad blogger, lately.  It’s mostly because I have  not made any cards in ages!  But, today, I have two cards to show you.  The first one is a Mother’s Day card that I made for my Mom.  She said she liked it lol.  I was totally inspired by my good friend, and fabulous cardster, Carla.  Well, more than inspired…I ended up copying her layout and idea.  I loved it so much, I knew I couldn’t improve on it!  :)

The next one is a birthday card for my baby sister.  She’s not a baby any more, though, lol.  I followed this week’s challenge over at The Townscrapper – to use pink and purple.  One of my fave colour combos, so that was easy!

So, there you go!  Thank you so very much for stopping by!

Autism Awareness

We have a new challenge up at The TownScrapper, and to celebrate Autism Awareness Month, it’s PUZZLE-THEMED. So, anything puzzly will work, as long as it’s fairly obvious that it’s puzzly. meaning, we aren’t looking at your projects with puzzled looks on our faces. :)

So, this is how it will work. For EVERY CARD submitted, including those from the Scrapettes, Leah the Orange is donating a dollar to the Kennedy Krieger Institute. And, Scrapettes  Kim S. Katie, Zoe, Ann and Maria have generously offered to MATCH each dollar Leah donates! Your card equals SIX DOLLARS!
Here’s a little blurb from the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s website:

WHO WE ARE

An internationally recognized institution, Kennedy Krieger provides research, treatment, education and community programs for more than 14,000 children annually. We believe that early identification, intervention, and treatment of disabilities are key to maximizing potential and preventing major problems throughout a child’s life. We are dedicated to understanding, unlocking, and overcoming the problems and injuries that affect a child’s developing brain and nervous system.

Unlike other institutions that concentrate on one specific area, ours is an interdisciplinary approach that brings together the expertise of a team of professionals from various fields and departments to create treatment plans tailored to the special needs of each child.

Visit Kennedy Krieger Institute’s main website to learn more about our research, patient care, education, and community programs.

So, click on over to The Townscrapper blog, and see what the Scrapettes have come up with this week, to inspire you to do your part to help these very worthy causes.

There’s even more….you could win a couple of newly released stamps designed by artist, Victoria Case.  Here’s a peek:

Aren’t they adorable? I think so.

Introducing VICTORIA CASE!

This is an INCREDIBLY exciting day for The TownScrapper, folks!

We’ve made some changes, and there are more to come!  Wanna know why? Well, I’m gonna tell ya! :D

The Humble Pie blog began with a push to a brand new stamp line from Heather Hambleton, who’s brought us lots of cute images and a chance to play with our very own EXCLUSIVE stamps! We’re still playing with these, and as you know, new images like Angel Maggie are still being added to the collection, but we had to change our name, ‘cuz we’re not just talking about Humble Pie stamps anymore…

PLEASE ALLOW US TO INTRODUCE….

VICTORIA CASE!

Phebe asked this VERY talented and amazing artist if she would illustrate for The TownScrapper, and we are all extremely thrilled, humbled and honored when she said YES! Phebe says she has always admired Victoria‘s work and will now be one of the fortunate to have an exclusive line of her images turned into rubber stamps just for The TownScrapper! Her artwork is truly amazing so be prepared – you will be inspired to create!

Here is what Victoria has to say:

“I have been an illustrator for a little over 25 years. I enjoy creating designs the old fashioned way with pencils, inks and chalks. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada with my husband. We have two awesome kids- they are my best work in progress and what I am most proud of! I’m so thankful and very excited to be working with The Town Scrapper on a fun and fabulous new line of rubber stamps! I hope these new little rubber ones bring you smiles and leave you feeling wonderfully creative!”

We happily and excitedly welcome Victoria Case Stamps to The TownScrapper!

It is our pleasure to work with Victoria’s BEAUTIFUL stamps, and we have our very own line available NOW at The TownScrapper!

Here is my first Victoria Case Stamps card:

This week’s challenge was to showcase our new stamp line, with a “spring” theme in mind.  I think of bright colors when I think of spring.  I used “Evan’s Big Catch” for my card.

So, click on over to the TownScrapper blog now, and check out the fabulous creations by the rest of the Design Team!  We have release SIX new stamps this week, and they are being showcased beautifully today!
