Healesville Animal Sanctuary

Today was our last day in the Melbourne area. We picked up our rental car a day early because we wanted to see a few things on our own in this area before heading out on the Great Ocean Road tomorrow. It was a great day – beautiful sunny weather (not too hot), and the drive to the Healesville Animal Sanctuary was easy – only about an hour away. Here are some shots of the wildlife. The highlight was the “Magic Moment” (it was an extra cost to get up close and personal with the various animals). We chose the koala, as we had not yet seen one. We weren’t able to hold him, as they don’t like to be held or touched, but we did get quite close to him (Ben is his name), and take a few photos.
We were also able to get quite close to a number of other exotic animals – emu, kangaroos, pelicans, lizards, snakes, etc.
