City Girl

Hello my friends!  I’m excited to share a journal page I did as part of Christy’s “30 Pages in 90 Days” workshop.  This session is closed to new members at the moment, but she will be running it again starting in June.  I may be a bit biased, because I do teach for Christy’s other site – Art Geeks, but this course is AWESOME!  Seriously, it is the BEST art journaling course I have ever taken.  It is packed full of videos, pdf’s – three videos minimum for each page.  A video each day, for 90 days!  I am having so much fun, and learning so much.  Love.

I used my current favorite stencil by the Crafter’s Workshop for the cityscape.  I love the way it looks like the buildings are glowing.  I used iridescent paints, and a white Uniball Signo marker to outline each building.City Girl

Love the depth and translucence of the colour you achieved. Simultaneously simple and complex. Gorgeous.

Hi Krys! No, it’s a Crafter’s Workshop stencil. I believe I got it from a store in Canada – Art House Studio.

This page looks phenomenal! It definitely has a distinct graffiti-esque aesthetic- very urban AND awesome!

I hope it’s OK to ask… I just finished watching your “Life is Good” youtube video, and I saw you use at leadt 2 different pens/markers that actually wrote on gesso without getting ruined… can you please let me know what they are? I haven’t found any yet… even Sharpies dry up quickly when used over gesso.

    Thanks, and keep creating!

    God bless 🙂

The key to writing over gesso, (Or acylic paint) – is to make sure it is COMPLETELY DRY. Then, you should be able to use any pen without ruining it.
