Journaling by 5’s – Part 4 – Art Journaling Video

Art Journaling Pages

Just a quick drive-by post to show you a couple of recent art journal pages.  The first one is Day 17 of  the fabulous Gulfsprite – Christie’s 30Pages in 90 Days class.  This page is so NOT my usual style, in any way.  The colors, techniques, etc., are all outside of Kim’s box.  LOVED IT!  It’s a page about my female kitten, Summer.  She really does LOVE to play!

The other spread is in my Dylusions journal, using lots of Dylusions stamps and sprays:

I started it before my vacation, and did all the doodling and lettering while on vacation.  I just basically used every artistic word I could think of, and got out all my paint markers and doodle pens, and played.  It’s a bonus when something like this actually ends up looking good.  🙂HHIfull HHIright HHleft

So that’s all for today.  I’m working on my istencils video, and will be offering up a cool giveaway, too.  In the meantime, the fabulous Patti Parrish has an istencils promotion on right now!  Check it out here!

So Grateful – An Art Journal Spread – Mini Tutorial

Hellooooooooooooo my friends!  I am feeling so completely inspired lately.  I love it when my muse is happy, and I can create stuff that I actually like.  On the heels of taking two in-person classes with the fabulous Joanne Sharpe, I pulled out my Dylusions art journal, and some of my new products from the Art House Studio, and this is what happened.  I only wish that I had made a video of my process.  I am doing the next best thing – sharing lots of pictures, and see below for a description of all products and techniques used to create this spread (a mini tutorial).

First, – I am NOT affiliated with any of the blogs, stores, or products mentioned and linked in this post. Since I often get comments/questions about where I get my products –  I purchased all products mentioned in this post from The Art House Studio, in Cambridge, Ontario Canada.

I started with a spread that had already been sprayed with my Dylusions Ink Sprays, and pulled out one of my new Crafter’s Workshop Stencils and glass bead gel, and stenciled the buildings across the bottom. That is the COOLEST effect!  (If you would like to see this technique demonstrated, check out my Youtube video here) After the glass bead gel had fully dried, I added some pan pastel over the top of the glass bead gel (LOVE!).

This is what the stencil looks like (designed by Rhonda Palazzari) –untitled

I used a variety of black permanent markers to draw the circle in the corner, and journaling lines.   Then, I pulled out a few of my favorite shimmery paints – some Silks, as well as some Perfect Pigment Pure Liquid Acrylic (in Green Pearl – *YUM*).  I painted each journaling section with a different shimmery paint.  Then, I did the journaling,  using several different permanent black pens.  Then, I outlined in white with my Uniball Signo white pen.  A little doodling around the edge, and I was finished.  🙂

Art Journal Flip – Video

I had a request over on Art Geeks to do a journal flip.  I was reluctant to do this, because I don’t always do my best work in my art journals, AND, I am always working in several journals at one time.  I think I have only filled 2 journals in the 7 years that I have been art journaling.  I also do a fair bit of personal writing on my pages, so I didn’t feel comfortable sharing that with the world.  But, when I pulled out my two most recent favorite journals, I realized I had not done any personal written journaling in either one of them!  So, here you go – a flip through my Moleskine 8×12, and my Dylusions journal.  Neither one is even close to full, and there is some good, some bad, and some really really fugly!  lol  Oh, and there are some cute kitties helping me out, too.  😉
